What it takes to be a winner... 

Looking at the opportunities that are available to you and any threats that may be in your way, which may derail you or stop you from winning.  Following on from How to Win - Part 1, we'll look at the opportunities that are available to you and any threats that may be in your way, which may derail you or stop you from winning.  Firstly, make a list of the opportunities you have or the goals you want to achieve:

Now list the threats:

Again, as we did with our weaknesses, by the side of each threat I want to you write what you can do about each one in order to overcome them.

By completing this exercise fully, it encourages you to articulate what you want, how you’re going to get it and to quickly and constructively overcome any potential obstructions.  All in all, it gives you control and one thing that most ‘Winners’ absolutely love is control.

It also allows you to make some small wins, it’s often the small wins that set us on the path to success, it’s the little victories that give you confident and is an essential part of a winner’s tool kit.

What it takes to be a winner

  • Drive - winners take consistent action and are driven to achieve results
  • Determination - nothing gets in their way
  • Dedication - they are often working on their dream whilst others may be 'partying'
  • Execution - they do what they say they're going to do
  • Exceed in small goals often - they break their goals up into smaller achieveable goals so that they are constantly succeeding and don't lose momentum
  • Chart progress - what gets written down gets done, winners like to keep a log of progress and regularly review it and adjust it where necessary
  • Keep moving - they don't stop, they keep moving forward even if it's just by one step at a time
  • Hard work - nothing of greatness is ever achieved without hard work - we get out what we put in
